EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Michigan University is set to change its operations in 2026 as President Russ Kavalhuna plans to improve budget transparency after holding listening sessions. He briefed proposals to the Board of Trustees and will share more details in the new year.  WKZO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Almost 90% of Consumers Energy customers have power restored after winter storms affected 230,000 people, and 630 crews worked to fix outages on Tuesday. Crews from Consumers Energy and out-of-state teams are working to restore power to the remaining 26,990 customers by the end of today.  WWMT

SPORTS NEWS

  • K-Wings resumed the regular season Tuesday night in Kalamazoo after the ECHL and PHPA ratified a collective bargaining agreement that raises player compensation and enhances health and safety for the 2025-26 season.  WWMT
  • Registration is open for the 43rd Annual John Daley Memorial One One Run on New Year's Day at Spring Valley Park in Kalamazoo starting at 1 p.m. — proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo.  WKZO
