  • Firefighter Charlie Sullivan died in a motorcycle crash on Nov. 4 near Kzoo Books and was honored by a procession in Portage on Nov. 12 (remembered for his quiet kindness) as family will celebrate his life with a New Year’s Eve gathering on a Lake Michigan beach on Dec. 31.  MLive

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A UPS facility in Wyoming will lay off 67 workers on Jan. 20 when it closes at 5757 Clyde Park Avenue (Southwest). A Post cereal plant in Battle Creek will begin a 14-day separation for 71 workers on Jan. 8 when it shuts down.  WWMT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bronson reached a multi-year agreement with UnitedHealthcare Tuesday, Dec. 23 to keep its hospitals, outpatient centers, and physician offices in-network for patients on Commercial and Individual plans; the deal ensures uninterrupted care in Southwest Michigan through 2026.  MLive
