- ➤ Andy Pepper, sports director at News Channel 3, will begin his 11th annual 18‑hour bell‑ringing marathon for the Salvation Army on Monday at Sweetwater’s at 5:40 a.m.—he will visit stops in Portage and Kalamazoo to raise funds and awareness for volunteer bell‑ringers, with part of the proceeds coming from donut sales. - ➤ State data shows that in 2024 the most dangerous intersections in Kalamazoo County were on Drake Road along the border of Kalamazoo and Oshtemo Township, with Drake Road and West KL Avenue recording 30 crashes, Drake Road and Stadium Drive 29, and Drake Road and West Main Street 27 crashes+Portage locations, Shaver Road and Centre Avenue and Romence Road with Westnedge Avenue, each recorded 26 crashes+the report highlights ongoing traffic safety concerns for motorists.
