BUSINESS NEWS

  • Clark Logic broke ground yesterday at 701 Watkins Road near Fort Custer Industrial Park to add 252,000 square feet that will double the facility to 504,000 square feet along the I-94 corridor—this joint venture with Great Lakes Capital includes 12 loading docks and is expected to be ready for occupancy in the third quarter of 2026.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kalamazoo County Housing Director Mary Balkema outlined a new plan this week to tackle rising homelessness and high home costs by calling for a countywide, proactive effort to help those earning less than 80% of the median income—County Commissioners want assurances they will be included, and Balkema will share next steps next month.  WKZO
  • U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright ordered the J.H. Campbell coal plant to stay open until Feb. 17, 2026, delaying its closure for the third time to keep the grid reliable for colder months. Consumers Energy said the cost to keep the plant open—nearly $1 million per day—will be shared by customers across the Midwest electric grid region.  WWMT

  • Portage Central High School boys’ soccer team won the Division One state championship on November 1 by defeating the Ann Arbor-Huron River Rats 1-0 and was honored with a resolution at the city council meeting last night. Goaltender Gunnar Thorhallsson was named Mr Soccer for Michigan.  WKZO
