- ➤ As the federal government shutdown continues, education experts warn that Portage college students may face delays in processing new FAFSA applications because fewer federal staff are available—federal student loans and Pell Grants remain funded under mandatory spending. They advise students to file early and check their campus financial aid portals—applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. WWMT
