ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • This summer, West Michigan faced its worst drought since 2012—Holland recorded only 13.7 inches of rain while Grand Rapids fell nearly nine inches short, and nearby Battle Creek and Kalamazoo received above-average rainfall. The U.S. Drought Monitor rated parts of the region as experiencing severe drought.  WKZO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • If lawmakers do not pass a 2025-2026 budget by October 1, many state services such as Secretary of State offices, state parks and road repairs may slow or stop as contingency plans remain undisclosed—state employees face uncertain conditions. Gov. Whitmer’s team said ongoing negotiations continue to try to avoid a shutdown that would disrupt essential operations.  MLive
