GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas Township officials proposed a special assessment district—adding 0.87 mills to property taxes—to fund their fire department as inflation and rapid growth have squeezed current funding. Some residents oppose the measure and want any tax increase to be voted on, and the board will hold a hearing on August 25 to decide next steps. MLive
