CRIME NEWS

  • Portage Public Safety reported that 34-year-old Kaleb Michael Shaffer, believed responsible for multiple armed robberies at Aldi stores, was arrested on June 4 in Rapid City, South Dakota and extradited to Michigan for arraignment last Friday in Kalamazoo County District Court—he now faces multiple felony charges and is held in Kalamazoo County Jail with bond denied.  WKZO
  • Ashley Howard (35) faced charges for safe storage violations after her 3-year-old accidentally shot herself on May 3 near East Vine Street when the toddler pulled a legally-owned gun from a parked car's console, and she appeared for a preliminary exam on Tuesday, June 24th at Kalamazoo County Courthouse.  WWMT
