  • Authorities said a father and son fell into the water near Lake Michigan during a fight on Thursday when Nicholas Floyd Frazier, 20 (of Lake Station) allegedly struck the father with a blunt object and was arrested on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and battery with a deadly weapon (the incident occurred on Burns Ditch in Portage at 10 a.m.).  MLive

  • Local veterans at American Legion Post 475 in Schoolcraft voiced concern that direct military involvement in the escalating Middle East conflict could lead to more casualties. State Representative Steve Carra introduced a House bill in March to limit National Guard action abroad without a formal declaration of war — a move that reflects local calls for caution amid global tensions.  WWMT

  • Local health officials and the Michigan State Police warned that a heat wave with temperatures expected to hit the low-to-mid 90s and feels-like readings in the low 100s is arriving today in West Michigan.
