  • Louie's Lake Bar & Grill opened its doors Monday, June 9 at 8946 S. Sprinkle Road in Portage in the former Long Lake Tavern—joining the Louie’s family that includes Kalamazoo’s original bar and the 2020 Louie’s Corner Bar. Owner Mike VandeMaele and operations manager Joe Wolf now serve neighborhood favorites alongside a new seafood focus with items such as a bluegill po’boy and smoked whitefish dip.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kalamazoo Christian’s historic seniors — known as the golden class — reached the Division 4 girls soccer regional final after four straight state finals trips. They will face Zion Christian soon as they try to win their fourth straight title game.  MLive
  • Last Sunday, nearly 26,000 NASCAR fans voted 92.2% in favor of the Michigan International Speedway race, marking the highest approval rate of 2025 in the last 10 years—an outcome that followed Denny Hamlin’s dramatic win. The event was shown on Amazon Prime Video—with total viewership at 1.77 million while younger fan ratings increased compared to previous cable broadcasts.  MLive
