- ➤ Consumers Energy reported that just over 7,000 people lost power along South Westnedge Avenue and I-94 on May 23, with restoration estimated by 9:30 p.m. Officials provided no details on the outage's cause. WWMT
- ➤ Edgar, a sweet four-month-old puppy, is available for adoption at SPCA SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN. He loves belly rubs and is expected to be medium in size as he grows. WWMT

- ➤ Pamela Snyder has opened Nice Bread at 8903 Portage Road after moving from her popular bread stand. The bakery, which opened May 1, offers sourdough, cookies and weekly specials and is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. MLive
- ➤ After closing its Portage store in April, Kalamazoo Candle Company will focus on its downtown flagship following a May 15 bankruptcy filing by owner Adam McFarlin - the filing allows the business to restructure $1.46 million in secured and $648,000 in unsecured debt. MLive

- ➤ Five high school students from the Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center earned international awards at the Regeneron Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix (May 10–15) by receiving top honors for projects in plant science, engineering, and early cancer detection. WKZO
