- ➤ Local officials in Kalamazoo County have formed a 13-member committee to choose a site for a $40M youth sports complex that will serve local youth and boost tourism—Portage, Kalamazoo and Texas Township are all in consideration with a site near the Air Zoo as one option. - ➤ A man admitted he drove a 2012 GMC Acadia used to steal mail from Postal Service collection boxes in the Kalamazoo area on May 19 and tossed the stolen mail along U.S. 131 during a police chase before surrendering on Red Arrow Highway—he said he was offered $1,000 to drive the getaway vehicle—federal prosecutors reported.
