- ➤ Charles Zhang and Lynn Chen-Zhang of Portage will receive the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for their business, public service, and philanthropy work. The couple, who own Zhang Financial and support local projects like a community senior center, an animal rescue, and a soon-to-open farmers market, are honored soon. WKZO

- ➤ Officials said water contamination from corrosion in the jail's plumbing has led to bottled water being provided to inmates and staff since February + further tests will be completed in late May/early June to check the filtration systems in place. WWMT

- ➤ Western Michigan's top hitter Tanner Mally has been named one of 48 semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy — an honor for the nation's best player. He leads college baseball in batting average and will play Northern Illinois in the regular-season finale series this weekend. MLive
- ➤ Michigan high school girls track and field rankings are updated with results through May 14, featuring West Bloomfield’s Kamryn Tatum—winner in the 400m relay on June 3, 2023—and Portage Northern’s athlete ranked 7th in the 100m dash.
