- ➤ A year ago today, an EF-2 tornado hit Kalamazoo County, destroying 50 homes and 8 apartment buildings, damaging 130 homes and necessitating repairs on 400 others while local groups (Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Loaves and Fishes) and state funds ($3-million for residential relief) supported affected residents. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Air Zoo museum sustained over $1 million in damage when a tornado hit on May 7, 2024 and quick action by staff and volunteers saved many irreplaceable artifacts—only a small portion of the 80,000 items in storage was permanently lost. Contractors repaired the roof within two weeks and later installed second-story shelving—helping safeguard the museum’s historic collection for the future. MLive
