ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A report from the American Lung Association showed that Detroit got an F grade for ozone pollution—more than six days were unhealthy from 2021 to 2023—and its particle pollution grade improved from an F to a D; counties in mid, west and southeast Michigan, including the Kalamazoo Battle Creek Portage region, also had poor air quality ratings. The study warned that the bad air could cause asthma attacks and heart problems—making clear that stronger steps are needed to improve Michigan’s air quality. WWMT

- ➤ The Portage City Council is reviewing a proposed ordinance that would make repeated, unwelcome neighbor harassment a misdemeanor after residents voiced lasting concerns. If approved this evening, the measure will go to the next agenda step for final review. WKZO
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Ascension said on Monday that some patient data was likely stolen in December when a former business partner’s vulnerable third-party software allowed unauthorized access+the breach involved names, addresses, birth dates, and medical details. The hospital group immediately launched an investigation and now offers two years of free credit monitoring+identity theft protection to affected patients. WWMT

- ➤ Former Portage Northern star and Ohio University running back Anthony Tyus III (2020 MLive Kalamazoo Player of the Year) signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Detroit Lions Saturday evening after the NFL Draft; he led the MAC in rushing (earning all-MAC honors) and now has a chance to make the team.
