ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A driver died early Friday, April 18 in Comstock Township when his vehicle left the road, struck a tree, and caught fire on East Main Street near Magnolia Street—police said speed may have contributed to the crash.  MLive
  • On Thursday night a single-vehicle crash near the 10000 block of North 32nd Street and Baseline Road in Richland Township killed two passengers— the driver was arrested and is now held at the Kalamazoo County Jail.  WKZO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Michigan University president Edward Montgomery presided over his final Board meeting this week — receiving praise for his leadership during challenging times including declining enrollment and financial strains. The university will name the student support program he helped create after him — while a special board meeting next week will name his successor.  WKZO

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials have launched an investigation into a possible measles case in an Eaton County resident, and test results are still pending as reported by the Barry-Eaton District Health Department. People who visited King Ocean Crab (April 12) or Bad Brads BBQ (April 13) are urged to watch for symptoms for 21 days after exposure and check their vaccination status.  WWMT
