COMMUNITY NEWS

  • News Channel 3 joined Sinclair's Day of Service yesterday by volunteering at Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes and South Michigan Food Bank in Battle Creek. Greta Faworski and Lori Sunie said rising inflation has driven more residents to seek help — prompting the food banks to work at full capacity.  WWMT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Neil deGrasse Tyson will speak at Miller Auditorium on April 24 in an event—An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies Part 1—that explains how films like Star Wars and Frozen feature science. This talk will help viewers see familiar movies in a new light.  WWMT
  • The Air Zoo in Portage offers families and aviation fans a hands on look at flight history with rare planes such as the SR 71B Blackbird and indoor flight simulators. The museum displays over 100,000 artifacts and features interactive exhibits including a 26 foot indoor Ferris wheel+ it has become a popular spot for learning and fun.  WWMT

ECONOMY NEWS

  • American Airlines added a new 2:15 p.m. flight from AZO to O’Hare on April 3—joining the 7 a.m. and 7:23 p.m. flights and offering one-stop connections to over 150 destinations.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • WMU hockey coach Pat Ferschweiler became the first in the program to earn the Spencer Penrose Award on Tuesday for steering his team to its best season in program history.  MLive
  • A free watch party is set for tomorrow evening at Lawson Arena in Kalamazoo as WMU’s Bronco hockey team plays in the Frozen Four for the first time after winning the National Collegiate Hockey Conference championship over Denver University—fans are invited to join the 5 p.m. game as the team aims for a spot in Saturday's national championship game.  WKZO
