- ➤ Amtrak canceled the Pere Marquette line service between Chicago and Grand Rapids due to a track washout in Coloma and is using buses to replace the train (repair timeline remains unknown). WKZO
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Nate and Karen Smallcombe will take full operations of The Lucky Wolf in Paw Paw on April 22 — a community space offering live music, comedy and dinner — continuing the late founder's vision while planning to reach more local and nearby talent. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WMU's Cold Case Program has solved seven cases since 2020 by digitizing files to help state police and offering students hands-on forensic training; the program also plans open houses twice a year to encourage public participation at the university. WWMT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flood warnings cover multiple West Michigan rivers as heavy rain saturates the ground and causes rising water levels. In Kent County the Grand River will approach major flooding Tuesday at 8 p.m., while the Thornapple in Caledonia, Hastings and the Portage near Vicksburg face moderate conditions. WWMT
- ➤ On Jan. 27, a Quest Liner semi-trailer crashed on I-196 near Saugatuck, spilling 28,000 pounds of plastic pellets that contaminated the roadway and the Kalamazoo River; crews are steadily cleaning up the spill and installing catch basin inserts to prevent further spread. MLive

- ➤ The Tigers dropped a 5 to 3 loss to the Cardinals Sunday night at Comerica Park as manager (A.J. Hinch) pointed to cold conditions and costly mistakes. The team arrived in Minneapolis early Monday and will face an even colder road series against the Twins. MLive
