ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Coloma man died after a car struck him while dancing on I-94 Friday morning near mile marker 44 (6:00 a.m.) and the driver remained on the scene without injuries.  WKZO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Michigan University’s new master plan (which outlines campus changes) may tear down 11 campus buildings in the next decade, and students and alumni are invited to share their memories (such as those from Sprau Tower) in a survey.  MLive
  • Michigan education official Dr. Michael F. Rice—formerly superintendent of Kalamazoo Public Schools—announced his retirement, with his last day set for October 3. He said he will write and consult after serving six school years overseeing public education for 1.4 million school children.  WKZO

SPORTS NEWS

  • 11-year-old Easton Davis (from Portage North middle school) had a near-perfect NCAA bracket entering Saturday’s Final Four, missing only one pick. The Kalamazoo native (with 59 out of 60 correct picks) filled his bracket in a few minutes and his family celebrated his unexpected success in major bracket challenges.  MLive
