CRIME NEWS

  • A Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office sergeant used stop sticks to stop a wrong-way driver on U.S. 131—he spotted the vehicle driving north on the southbound lane near West D Avenue at 1:01 a.m. March 26.  MLive
  • On March 27th, an investigation was launched in Kalamazoo when a Kalamazoo Township police officer and a suspect were injured on Howard Street—between Oakland Drive and Crosstown Parkway—after officers tried to arrest a wanted person.  WWMT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Two Kalamazoo County animal shelters—Kalamazoo Animal Rescue and Kalamazoo County Animal Services and Enforcement—will receive funds from MDARD’s Animal Welfare Fund in 2025 as part of a $150,000 grant cycle supported by tax return contributions. The shelters will get $8,000 and $5,633 respectively to help expand spay and neuter programs and improve animal care.  WWMT
