- ➤ Volunteers from Samaritan's Purse + Riverside Church have been cleaning up and providing meals in Three Rivers and Union City after Friday's tornadoes, and they will leave on Saturday, March 21. WWMT
- ➤ At Portage Central High School on Friday night, a charity basketball game between the Detroit Lions Legends and local firefighters raised funds for local causes despite missing firefighter Jacob Mahoney, who is recovering at home after a crash two weeks ago + his team looks forward to his return next year. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ High winds left thousands without power yesterday as Consumers Energy reported outages for over 20,500 customers and Midwest Energy affected 1,300 near Three Rivers and Mattawan — the National Weather Service issued a wind warning from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with gusts up to 60 mph. WWMT
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Portage approved phase two of Stanwood Crossings on March 9, adding 12 affordable homes with an extra $500,000 in funding. The 14-acre development between Austin Lake and West Lake now plans 42 owner-occupied houses for buyers earning 80%-120% of median income, with 400 interested so far. MLive
