EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Portage Public Schools approved a $2 million purchase of a 14.79-acre lot at 5201 Angling Road to build a new elementary school; construction will begin next year while classes continue at the current facility until the new building opens in 2029. WKZO
- ➤ Climax-Scotts Board of Education voted Tuesday night against renewing Tyler Langs as athletic director and head football coach—after an investigation found his conduct had created a toxic environment. He returned as dean of students while the board said the roles would be posted separately. WWMT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ State and local agencies continue a cleanup in Allegan County after several thousand pounds of nurdles spilled along I-196 and entered the Kalamazoo River near Saugatuck. MDOT will close the northbound lane Thursday night to remove the largest pellet pile and repair a guardrail, and EGLE confirmed there is no public health risk. WWMT
