➤ Gas prices in Michigan dropped 13¢ last week and now average $2.85 a gallon. Prices vary from $2.98 in Ann Arbor to $2.61 in Traverse City with even lower rates in southwest counties. WKZO

➤ WMU College of Aviation received $819,000 in federal funding Monday to purchase simulation software & training equipment and upgrade its uncrewed aerial systems course, boosting workforce training and outreach amid a global technician shortage. WWMT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ USPS letter carriers rallied on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Kalamazoo Mall to demand improved pay and benefits ahead of contract negotiations later this week. Union leaders cited staffing shortages as a root cause of mail delays affecting Portage and other nearby cities + stressed the need for faster pay progression for new hires. WWMT

HEALTH NEWS

➤ Beacon Kalamazoo completed a $3.5 million renovation of its emergency department at 1521 Gull Road, with improved signage and a dual-pathway care model designed to boost patient flow + reduce wait times.
