- ➤ Agriculture expert Nicolle Ritchie (MSU extension field crops educator) said West Michigan’s heavy snowpack keeps soil near freezing, which may reduce spring pests and protect crops from snow mold while adding beneficial moisture ahead of the planting season. WWMT
